The last week of December 2020 the NYS Legislature adopted legislation to WAIVE the requirement for the Senior Citizens with Limited Incomes and Disability with Limited Income renewal exemption process for the 2021/22 tax year.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU?

YOU NEED NOT DO ANYTHING.  We have the income you submitted last year on file.  This legislation along with the Executive Order enables us to continue your exemption on next year’s assessment roll by using last year’s application.  There is no need to risk in-person visits to our office during the COVID pandemic.  You can remain safely in your home while still enjoying the tax benefits you received this past year.

FOR THOSE THAT ALREADY FILED YOUR RENEWAL WITH US THIS FALL…we will review the most recent income submitted and last year’s. We will use whichever is the lowest so you will receive the most beneficial exemptions. In some cases the income you filed this fall was OVER INCOME but now we are allowed to use last year’s so you will still receive the exemption.

Please be advised that Town Hall is currently closed to the public, appointments are required.

Our office staff will be pleased to assist you with any questions.  Office hours are 8am-4 pm Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri and 9am-5pm on Wednesday. For further information, call the assessor’s office at 716-549-5752
