Volunteers:
It takes a lot of time and effort to run a successful Senior Center.  Volunteerism serves both the donor and recipient. Our Center is looking for generous people to volunteer their time to fulfill tasks that are needed to help run the Center more smoothly;  such as cooking, serving our clients at our daily nutrition lunch program, leading various scheduled programs and activities, teaching classes, bingo calling, decorating the Center for parties and changing seasons.

Senior Center is currently closed for the Following:

All Activities, Lunch Program, Van Services, Speakers are cancelled until further notice.

Notifications on all Television networks are all submitted by Town Supervisor Hosler
Director of Senior Center has provided notifications about all of the closings regarding the Evans Senior Center, on the Town Web page under Senior Center, Senior Center Face book Page, along with contacting all members for all signed up activities, speakers, instructors, lunch program participants by phone over the past weekend and Monday work day. Anyone can call the offices at the center and the staff will be more than happy to answer or assist any calls concerning the center. As far as Questions about the Coronavirus all questions should be directed to Erie County Dept. of Health Hotline @ 716-858-2929.

We strongly encourage any individuals with the symptoms provided by the Health Commissioner of Erie County to stay home and take care of themselves. All of that information has been provided on Erie County sites, along with constant coverage and reminders on national, local, TV and Radio.

During the time frame of cancelled events the staff of the center is working diligently to clean and disinfect and sanitize all necessary surfaces, furniture for the return of our senior members.

During these trying times, it can be easy to overlook those who are alone-those who have no support from family or friends.  With this in mind Dawn Youngers Lamberti, owner of DaWN’s Restaurant in the village of Angola, partnered with the Evans Senior Center to lend a helping hand. Dawn’s concern has translated into the donation of prepared meals for those isolated seniors who have no means of transportation. These seniors were contacted by Veronica Sullivan Yeager, Director of the Evans Senior Center.  The meals were prepared using all COVID19 standards, and were delivered using the same standards and precautions.  Veronica personally made all deliveries-leaving the meals on the doorstep then notifying the recipients of the delivery!  Thank-you to DaWN’s Restaurant for your thoughtfulness, your generosity, and your civic-mindedness.  It is much appreciated and will be paid forward.
